Mario has been around in video games for 28 years. That seems like a lifetime for our short pudgy plumber friend who lives in the Mushroom Kingdom. You either love him or hate him. Personally he has brought great joy to all my gaming over the years. Mario has appeared in over 200 video games and first making his appearance in the video game Donkey Kong back in 1981. In the Mario series, he would repeatedly try and pursue Bowser who enviably always chasing Princess Peach. You’d think she would know better by now than to go wandering into a creepy castle alone in a bright pink dress. Nintendo’s cute little character has a place in my heart and is one of the most famous characters in video game history.
Mario was originally suppose to be a carpenter to reflect that as a character he was just an ordinary hard worker and people could relate to that, it wasn’t until later on that they decided he should become a plumber. Mario’s role has always been rescuing a damsel in distress. Many times I thought Mario should consider just leaving her to plummet to her doom., after all he was trying to keep himself alive as well.
Mario’s is recognized by the Guinness World Records, who awarded the Nintendo Mascot and the series of platform games he has appeared in, 7 world records in the Guinness world records: Gamers’ edition 2008. Mario has changed so much over the years from our pixelated character to a fully rendered plumber as we know him today.
Mario brought gaming to life. Don’t you think?…
