Happy Birthday Sonic…

Our little Blue hedgehog indeed has arrived at his 18th birthday. Feels like he has been around a lot longer than that. But how much do you know about Sonic the Hedge?. Sonic was first introduced on June 23rd 1991 in order to provide SEGA with a mascot to compete with the other characters at the time. Nintendo had Mario and so SEGA came up with Sonic and alas our blue friend was born. Since then he has been one of the world’s best known video game characters of generations past and future. Sonic was one of the first game character inductees into the Walk of Game, along side Mario and Link.

Sonic is a blue-haired, mostly blue skinned anthropomorphic hedgehog, who has the incredible ability to run faster than the speed of sound and the ability to curl up into a little ball, primarily to attack enemies.

We just wanted to wish Sonic the Hedge a very Happy Birthday from Girl Gamers UK.
