Happy Birthday to Tetris. Tetris is 25 years old today and the much loved game is still a firm favourite of worldwide gamers everywhere. Tetris is a puzzle video game that was originally designed by Alexev Pajitnov. It was created by him on June 6th 1984, while he was working fro the Dorodnicicyn Computing Centre of the Academy of Science of the USSR in Moscow.
For those of you that are unsure about the game Tetris and I’m sure there are some out there. Tetris is a game where a random sequence of Tetrominoes shapes composed of four square blocks each which fall down the playing field of a rectangular vertical shaft, called the ‘well’ or ‘matrix’. The idea behind the game is to manipulate these tetrominoes, by simply moving each one sideways and rotating it by 90 degrees, with the aim of creating a horizontal line of blocks without gaps. Once the line is created, it then disappears, and any block above the deleted line will fall. As the game progresses, the tetrominoes fall a lot faster and the game simply ends when the stack of tetrominoes reaches the top of the playing field and no new tetrominoes are able to enter. It seems easy to begin with, but as the pace begins to speed up, the more frantic it becomes. I know this, because I have played this game many times on many platforms. I quite like this game on the DS. The game is an addictive one to say the least, but a fun one. Happy Birthday Tetris love GirlGamersUK.
