Girl Gamers UK took the opportunity to head over to Brick lane when we eventually found it and check out what ‘Summer of Sonic’ had in store. Held at The Boiler House at the unique Truman Brewery on Saturday 29th August.
We were met with a whole host of sonic fans which seemed to consume the whole of the warehouse. Many people sporting either sonic hats or t shirts, to people dressed up. The whole area buzzed with excitement at such a vast sonic audience. Held in one corner was Bentley Jones who was doing some rather cool DJ work and the speakers were pumping out music, which brought the audience together in a crowd. One area contained all the sonic merchandise you could cast your eyes on in glass cabinets for fans to come and admire.
In another corner was the art corner in which budding fans gather together and draw their favourite characters and which later there was an art contest. Many people were assembled in this area to exchange their thoughts and drawing ideas about their favourite characters.
A small crowd had gathered in the Games Zone area in which they showcased the history of Sonic the Hedgehog. There were chances to play certain classic levels or if you wanted to you could sit down with a handheld and play some wireless Sonic Rush or Sonic Rivals. It seemed like it had a great atmosphere and everyone seemed to be having a nice time.
Also there was a chance to catch up with some special guests including writers and artists of Sonic People brought along their sonic merchandise to be signed. A fun time was had by all the fans and everyone was pretty lively. I think our blue hero did very well for the day.
