What’s On WiiWare

Posted by TurtleGirl On January - 15 - 2010

Ever fancied yourself as a defence lawyer, but don’t want to do the years of training? Well visit the Wii Shop Channel and play Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney on WiiWare this week.

The Nintendo DSi shop is also packed with delights this week, as both Electroplankton Beatnes and Electroplankton Hanenbow arrive at once. Sudoku fans will also be excited to hear that 100 new tricky puzzles are now available to enjoy with SUDOKU SENSEI.

WiiWare – Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney

(Capcom, 1,000 Wii Points)

Meet Phoenix Wright, the rookie defence lawyer new to the scene with the wildest cross-examination skills in town.

Take on four intriguing cases to reveal dramatic, stunning, and even comical court proceedings.  Use the Wii Remote to investigate the crime scenes, question witnesses and present shocking evidence.

NINTENDO DSiWare – Electroplankton Beatnes*

(Nintendo, 200 Nintendo DSi Points)

Dive in to a unique audio-visual experience where technology meets art. Created by multimedia musician Toshio Iwai, Electroplankton are living aquatic ‘instruments’ that you interact with, to produce a variety of sounds and images limited only by your imagination.

Beatnes are curious creatures that emit sounds closely resembling those of the classic NES game console. Tapping the eight unique parts of a Beatnes’ body produces different sounds; while tapping Beatnes in time with a rhythm produces a repeating note in perfect time.

Use Performance mode to create your own unique compositions, or relax with Audience mode and let the Electroplankton run wild.

NINTENDO DSiWare – Electroplankton Hanenbow*

(Nintendo, 200 Nintendo DSi Points)

If you enjoyed Electroplankton Beatnes, you’ll also love Electroplankton Hanenbow.

Hanenbow launch themselves out of the water towards floating plants, creating strange sounds and melodies as they bounce off the leaves. When a leaf is repeatedly hit by a Hanenbow, it changes colour, altering the sound produced. No-one knows why Hanenbow display this strange behaviour.

Use Performance mode to create your own unique compositions, or relax with Audience mode and let the Electroplankton run wild.

(HUDSON SOFT, 500 Nintendo DSi Points)

SUDOKU SENSEI introduces you to 100 new “Super Hard Puzzles” for the hardened Sudoku veteran. All puzzles are designed by NIKOLI Co.,Ltd. for a level of satisfaction that computer-generated puzzles just can’t offer.

Features include “Tutorial Mode”, “Write Mode” and “Temp Number” for an easier Sudoku experience.

“SUDOKU 150! For Challengers”: 150 puzzles for intermediate to advanced players, and is available as DSiWare 500.

As the Wii Shop Channel and Nintendo DSi Shop are continually updated with exciting and refreshing games and applications, make sure you keep checking the Nintendo Channel, Wii Shop Channel and Nintendo DSi Shop for all the latest news and releases on already available and upcoming Virtual Console, WiiWare and Nintendo DSiWare titles.

Be sure to also check out Nintendo of Europe’s recently re-launched WiiWare portal, which functions as the main hub for the latest WiiWare news and game sites, while at the same time providing the perfect entry point for newcomers to the service. Weekly and all-time Top 10 lists show which WiiWare titles the UK’s Club Nintendo members are currently downloading most, and which are the most popular of all time.

The portal also provides step-by-step tutorials explaining how to connect the Wii console to the Internet and how to download WiiWare games, as well as a video showing how to use Nintendo Points. Visit www.wiiware.co.uk for all the details. Downloaded games can be saved to Wii’s internal memory or SD card and added to the console’s Wii Menu or SD Card Menu for anytime easy access.
