Nintendo Announcement Frenzy!

Posted by GG Goblin On February - 26 - 2010

Nintendo of Europe held a summit for European media yesterday – with a whole host of announcements spewing forth. Here is the rundown:

The highly anticipated sequel, Super Mario Galaxy 2, will be finding its way onto a Wii near you from 11th June 2010. Featuring the return of the popular gameplay, with a few new ideas. This time around, Yoshi can join Mario on his galaxy hopping quest. Mario can also get his hands on a drill, allowing him to tunnel through solid rock.

Nintendo and Team Ninja have confirmed that Metroid: Other M will be coming in Q3 2010. Coming to the Wii, the game takes on the appearance of a classic 2D side scroller, but players will be able to change to a 3D perspective at any time. Delve deep into a cinematic, never-before-told story of bounty hunter Samus Aran’s past.

In an epic announcement that will please fans across Europe, Nintendo revealed that Monster Hunter Tri will be available to play online at no extra cost.  Online text chat and Wii Speak will be fully functional. Coming to Europe on April 23rd.

The amazingly popular Square Enix game, Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies, which has sold in excess of 4 million copies in the Japanese market, will be published by Nintendo of Europe. Arriving on the DS this summer.

Immerse yourself in no-stop Wii action with Sin and Punishment: Successor of the Skies. The breakthrough shooter from developer Treasure will be hitting the Wii on May 7th.

FlingSmash for Wii will have players bouncing their hero through side scrolling levels. This combination of racket sport and pinball will require the motion plus accessory and will be available this summer.

The Nintendo DSi XL was confirmed for a March 5th release. This super sized DSi will be coming pre-loaded with Dr Kawashima’s: Little Bit of Brain Training: Arts Edition and Dictionary 6 in 1 with Camera Function aswell as the Nintendo DSi Browser.

WarioWare: Do It Yourself will be coming to the DS on April 30th. The game will be playable on any DS version. It will, however, be enhanced for the DSi XL.

WarioWare: DIY Showcase will also be available on April 30th and will offer more than 70 microgames. Players who own both this and the DS version will be able to transfer content between the two.

Cult hit of 2010? Photo Dojo, coming to DSi and DSi XL will allow players to pose for a number of photos and input a selection of sound effects. Once done, the player will become the star in a hilarious side scrolling fighting game. Multiplayer combat included.

Wow, Nintendo certainly had a busy day. I need to go and lie down now.
