Welcome to our first weekly round up of whats new for WiiWare, DSiWare and the Virtual Console. Each week we will see whats being added to the stores, along with their prices. You may even be lucky enough to read my ramblings on selected games. Lucky you!
This week is reasonably quite, so lets crack on -
Rage Of The Gladiator
Ghostfire Games – 1,000 Wii Points
Single Player Arena Based combat is the order of the day here. Step into the sandals of Gracius and fight your way through 11 bosses with your magical warhammer and shield. Customise Gracius to suit your playing style and unlock challenge mode by beating the game.
At 1,000 Wii Points, this title may seem a bit pricey. But the games graphics seem above par for a WiiWare game, and it even supports MotionPlus.
Hands-On Mobile, Inc. – 500 Wii Points
Not sure if the monkey makes a return in Bloons on Wii, but in the mobile version of this game, you are a monkey and your sole aim in life is to burst a certain number of Balloons with a certain number of darts.
It’s not rocket science, but it is fun. With 70 levels included and a level editor that allows you to create your own balloon puzzles, this could well be one of those games that is worth returning to. One for the puzzle lovers.
Combat of Giants: Dinosaurs – Fight for Survival
Ubisoft – 800 DSi Points
The Combat of Giants series has been knocking around for a while now, so we should know what to expect. In this cut down title, choose one of three dinosaur breeds, travel through hostile lands and fight other dinosaurs to save your kind.
One for the younger gamers, or fans of the series.
Mr. DRILLER Drill Till You Drop
Namco Bandai – 500 DSi Points
Mr. DRILLER is back in this latest version of the popular games series exclusively for DSiWare. Drill down through the levels, whilst keeping an eye on your oxygen reserves and watching for falling blocks. The core gameplay hasn’t changed, for which we can be thankful.
There are three different game modes to play with, including the new Dristone mode, exclusively for DSi, and six different characters to choose from. This is certainly one of the highlights of the week on the Nintendo store.
Pocket Pack Words & Numbers
Mere Mortals – 500 DSi Points
A compilation pack of word and number games, including Anagrams, Sudoku, Kakuro, Word Cubes and Word Guess. Not really much else to say about this, but I am sure that it will have its fans.
System Flaw: Recruit
Enjoy Gaming Ltd. – 500 DSi Points
Now, this one has promise. An action shooter that utilises the DSi camera to insert enemies into yuor environment. With 360 degree action, the player must move around to locate all of the enemies, using the radar to help find them.
Combat the threat known as the “Flaw” and get physical with this ingenious shooter.
Mega Man 4
Capcom – 500 Wii Points
Mega Man has to save the day, again. This time from the threat of Dr. Cossack, who plans to eliminate Mega Man to prove his superior robot building skills. You know what to expect in this virtual console game. Use Mega Mans new ability to charge energy inside his Mega Buster to remove the threats that stand in your way.
Well, a quiet week indeed. Most notable are perhaps the retro titles of Mega Man 4 and Mr. DRILLER. But I have to say that the most interesting to me is System Flaw: Recruit, which is something a bit different. Will it work? Maybe, maybe not. But it is nice to see a game that steps away from the norm.
Until next week, have fun!
