Doodle Find

As I have mentioned before, the iPhone seems to excel at the quick-hit, simple, casual games. I am not really sure why this is, it’s not like other types of games have not been successful on the little handheld. A good example of another genre that seems to be doing well, is the RPG genre, with Square Enix selling their games by the bucket load. But still, the little casual games are king on the iPhone. Maybe because people game on the iPhone whilst in between other things and don’t plan mammoth gaming sessions, or maybe the iPhone platform is still just too new.

Either way, here we have another one of those simple casual games that I am sure will do well on the platform. DoodleFind from KlickTock is a hidden object game for the iPhone platform. Now, I know what you are thinking, “not another hidden object game!”. Calm down, Doodlefind is unlike the type of hidden object games that have come before. And it is very, very good.

The hidden object genre generally gives the player a list of items that need to be found within a particularly detailed scene. It involves a great deal of concentration, a sharp eye and, if there is a time limit, a certain amount of patience.

Doodlefind takes the player down a different path. Presented with a screen filled with small simple doodles, the player is challenged to find as many of the items listed as possible within a 90 second time limit. The targets are shown at the top of the screen, one item type at a time. Once that, or those in the case of multiple same items, has been found, the next item is listed. Players are scored, depending on how many they find.

The game has FaceBook connectivity, so players are able to compare their score with friends and see their placings on the leaderboards. Now, here comes the real selling point, the game will be available free of charge! That’s right, it will not cost you a penny. Can it get any better?

Well, Doodlefind is bright and colourful, very easy to play and surprisingly addictive. All of this and it’s free. I cannot see any reason for people not to get this great little game. Go and get it, now!
