This weeks update brings us a couple of games, a couple of demos and another nice selection of downloadable content for new and existing titles such as Lost Planet 2, more Super Street Fighter IV costumes and a new Buzz! question pack. Along with the usual Rock Band and Guitar Hero updates, there is a little treat for Uncharted fans like myself to help customize their profile.

SAM AND MAX THE DEVIL’S PLAYHOUSE EPISODE 2 (free with season entitlement, not available for individual sale)

Our intrepid dog and rabbit duo continue their adventure with episode two The Tomb Of Sammun-Mak for those of us that purchased the season entitlement a month or so back. Although I have not yet downloaded it, I expect it to be as much fun and as humorous as the first episode. The two heroes travel and adventure through time as the story becomes a little bit more crazy and I do believe it will continue to do so over the five months to come. For players who have yet to experience episode one I urge you all to do so now as it is hilarious. I am unsure if and when this will be put on sale for others who have not purchased the season entitlement but I would think it my be next week.

Soldner-X 2 Final Prototype is like it’s first incarnation, an old-school side-scrolling arcade shoot ‘em up best likened to the classic R-Type. If you know what that game involves, then you know what to expect from Soldner-X, which has pretty amazing graphics. It’s the kind of game where you shoot absolutely everything that moves and if it does not  move, just try shooting it anyway, while dodging anything that is shot at you yourself. As you play though, you power up your weapons and craft while fighting of waves of bad guys and the occasional huge boss. On top of the story mode you get additional modes such as The Survival Modes in which the player has to fight through a certain number of stages without losing a life. Classic arcade shoot ‘em up action, great fun that will keep your attention for plenty of time.

I am a big fan of the PixelJunk games and this is one of the best in my opinion. Now that the demo is available to download, there is no excuse not to try this then fall in love with it. The game play is a thrust style affair and more, the players craft is piloted around caverns using the left right controls along with the thrust control. You are tasked with rescuing stranded scientists dotted around the cave. What makes this game different from other similar games is the liquid physics in the game, including the likes of lava, water and ice amongst other dangers. These work together to make up simple puzzles with water solidifying lava which can then be smashed with firepower and lava melting ice. Although this sounds simple, some of the puzzles can be pretty devious. With the demo available free to download there is no excuse not to give it a try. But I do warn you there is a pretty good chance you will feel the need to buy the full game afterwards.

The latest game in the World Superbike Championship, a game I am currently playing so as to review for the site, is a must buy for any fan of the sport or racing games in general. The game does a perfect job of capturing the spills and thrills of the sport, especially while playing the game set to simulation mode. You get the feeling you could lose control at anytime, but I won’t go too much into the game here, seeing as you will be able to read the review on the site soon, but it’s definitely one to try for fans of bike racing and motorsports in general.

Just Cause 2 is definitely being shown the love by it’s developers with content being added almost every week since it’s release. This weeks offering is a pack of three brand new weapons in the Boom pack. The weapons include the Quad Rocket Launcher – it’s half shotgun, half rocket launcher, all carnage, followed with the Cluster Bomb Launcher – the natural successor to the Grenade Launcher. It’s not hard to imagine what this does. It is all rounded out with the Air Propulsion Gun, an experimental jet powered blast weapon powerful enough to send both vehicles and soldier skywards. All three of these weapons only add to the already existing carnage and mayhem causing hardware in the game.

Once more, these entitlements only need to be purchased should you own a second hand copy of the game and you plan on using the games online options. Again, if you purchased a brand new copy of the game there will be no need to buy this as the one time use only code will be included. I am still not sure about this practice, what with the pre-owned games market being such a big part of the business, but I suppose if the prices for the entitlements is kept relatively low such as this one, then it’s not to bad.

A Playstation exclusive, with the Xbox 360 getting itself Gears Of War Skins for use in the game. The PS3 version gets a skin based on armour from the Monster Hunter games for use within Lost Planet 2 and a pretty cool skin it is to. Seeing as it’s a free download, there is nothing to lose whether you end up using it or not. Always nice to have the choice.

SBK X LEGENDS PACK £7.99/€9.99

With the game only being released this week, this content makes up the special edition of the game, but it is also available to purchase separately as download content and includes seventeen legendary bikes and riders such as Aaron Slight, Colin Edwards, James Toseland and my personal favorite addition Carl Fogarty, almost making it worth the money alone. Sure, this pack is not for everyone. Fans of general racing games probably wont find much of interest here, but fans of the sport itself will be pleased to see some of these names popping up in the game.

This week brings a third new costume pack for Super Street Fighter IV and this time it’s the ladies of Street Fighter who are being treated to some brand new clothes. With costumes for Chun Li, C. Viper, Sakura, Cammy and Rose included in this pack, now these kick-ass ladies can look even better than they usually do, while beating seven shades of crap out of whoever they are fighting.

With the world cup just around the corner, this question pack for the popular Buzz! quiz game comes just in time, perfect for your pre match party during which you can challenge your friends to see who has the best knowledge of the game. These packs are always worth the money, adding to the longevity of a game which was already fun to play.
