Catch Up With Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX

Phew! What a week. Hands up who’s excited about Kinect? (me, me me!)
Whilst GGUK are still digesting all the E3 news, gossip and trailers here’s what you can find in the arcade this week (it’s not much I have to say, I guess Microsoft were a little distracted or something…)

Space Ark – 800MP

This game looks cute and highly addictive. There’s 24 unlockable loveable animal characters (Arkonauts – of course) that you have to bounce around 5 vibrant worlds in order to terraform the planet and make it habitable. Mushrooms and exotic flowers spring up as the traveling animals aboard the Space Ark search the universe for a new home. Collecting fruity combos allows you to rack up a high score until you reach the target and the exit to the planet will open. The best of arcade fun that should become one of your five-a-day!

Elsewhere to buy:

Mercenaries 2: World in Flames – £19.99

The title of this one should leave you little question of what it’s about. Choose one of 3 characters, each with their own unique style and attributes then simply set out on a path of revenge by blowing up as much as you can – tanks, forests, buildings, other people – you name it! Don’t worry about story; there might as well not be one (for those of you who are interested in dramatic narrative and plot development you are hunting down a terrorist who did a dirty on you whilst a giant global conflice is brewing…but if you care that much, I’d suggest you go and play something else). You can hijack just about any vehicle in this stark free-roaming world but with a massive number of weapons to pick from the main thing you will do is just keep shooting people and blowing things up. The multiplayer option makes the game slightly easier and you get to watch someone else blow things up but overall, this title is certainly NOT my recommendation of the week, unless of course you’re going to buy a copy to blow up.

Add-Ons now and if it was shock horror last week, I’m totally dumbfounded this week as there are NO Rock Band or Guitar Hero titles this week. Once you’ve picked yourself up off the floor, here’s what is available:

Lips and for 160MP each, pop singers this week can have:

”Meet Me on the Equinox” by Death Cab for Cutie
””I’ve Never Been to Me” by Charlene – the ultimate girly life song
”Dirty Little Secret” by The All-American Rejects

Things on Wheels
ToW VrooM – 320MP

5 new crazy tracks to whiz your little cars around: Magic Wheel, Miami Rocket, Speed Rush, Rendez-vous and RC Master plus there’s a new achievement up for grabs too.

Defense Grid
Map Pack 3 – 80MP

A couple of new maps here for all you tower building alien avoiders: Urban Planning and Tactical Diversion but more importantly you get a new achievement with it – bargain at 80MP!

Battlefield: Bad Company 2
Assault Kit Short-Cut Pack – 560MP

One of the more handy kits, this short –cut pack instantly gives you 6 weapons including the AUG, F2000, M416 and the high powered AN-94 plus 3 specialisations, including red dot scope and the 4 x rifle scope as well as 3 gadgets, including ammo re-supply box and shotgun weapon attachment.

Battlefield: Bad Company 2
Engineer Kit Short-Cut Pack – 560MP

If specialising in destroying or repairing vehicles is your think, this pack is for you. On offer is 7 weapons including the SCAR-L carbine rifle, the M2 Carl Gustav RPG launcher and the UZI submachine gun plus 3 specialisations, including the submachine gun red dot scope and the 4 x submachine gun scope as well as 2 gadgets, the imaginatively named repair tool and the anti-tank mine.

Battlefield: Bad Company 2
Medic Kit Short-Cut Pack – 560MP

Everybody knows the most important member of any team is the one who can not only shoot the enemy but can help heal everybody else and with this pack you get 6 light machine guns including the MG36, MG3 and the high powered M60 plus 5 specialisations, including the light machine gun red dot scope and the 4 x light machine gun scope and 2 gadgets, the medic kit and the defibrillator.

Battlefield: Bad Company 2
Recon Kit Short-Cut Pack – 560MP

Check out the scope of this pack. You get 6 rifles (yes, 6!) including the SV98, GOL and the powerful, accurate M95 plus 4 specialisations, including the 12X high-power scope and the auto-spotting scope as well as 2 gadgets, the motion sensor mine and the mortar strike.

Battlefield: Bad Company 2
Kit Short-cut Bundle Pack – 1600MP

For those of you who are good at maths you will have realised already that if you buy each of the above packs separately, it would cost you 2240MP so save yourself a huge amount of MPs with this jam packed bundle that gets you all the kit-specific items across the Assault, Engineer, Medic and Recon multiplayer kits in Battlefield: Bad Company 2. The Bundle pack also includes the 7 available vehicle unlocks – Vehicle Motion Sensor – Hardened Armour – Extra Damage – Quick Primary Weapon Reload – Smoke Launcher – High-Power Optics – Coaxial Machine Gun – wayhey!

Finally, Indie Games and with all the uber techy news oozing out of E3, developers have gone back to basis for some 8-bit fun:

Hurdle Turtle – 80MP

How to make your turtle go faster? Add a sporty sweatband of course! You are the fastest turtle on the track racing in this 8-Bit inspired title where speedy solo challenges or multiplayer marathons are all yours for the winning by hurdling logs, brick walls and dinosaur tails. Nice cover Atari-ish Art work too!

A Day at Grandma’s House – 80MP

Encourage the E3 game developers of the future with this primary coloured exploratory title for little ones. Colour in pictures, catch butterflies, blow bubbles or leave giant mud rings as you drive the car around Grandma’s neatly mowed lawn. Great for hand/eye coordination and earning brownie points!

High Stakes Zombie Monkeys – 80MP

Just when I think I’ve seen every zombie game there is, surprise – it’s zombie monkeys! Let me see if I’ve got this right, using your Avatar, gamble your way into the Monkey arena. The more money you make, the better the weapon you can buy (mallets, maces, axes, cricket bats or lightswords). The better the weapon the more zombie monkeys you can smash and every zombie monkey destroyed turns into a banana. What do bananas make? A betting, button mashing, bludgeoning zombie monkey mad title! Now I really have seen every zombie game.

Thank goodness Space Ark arrived, keeping the quality level up for those of us experiencing the E3 comedown. I’m sure you may be like me and feel things may seem rather quiet in terms of new content on the XBL front after the frenzy from LA this week. This is probably because of the awesome summer sale that’s also taking place on XBL this week to help us celebrate all things E3 and there are some fabulous titles included!

Gold members can purchase Shadow Complex, Trials HD and Marvel vs. Capcom 2 at more than 50% off (from 1200Mp to 560MP) whilst TMNT: Turtles in Time Reshelled, and Splosion Man have dropped from 800MP to 400MP.

All members should check out the Inventory Blowout sale, as there’s a huge range of arcade favourites available from now through the 22nd June.  Here’s the full list
