Harrison Krix from Atlanta enjoys designing replica props from movie and video games.
His latest project involves making weapons of a M8 Avenger Assault Rifle from the latest Mass Effect game. His tried to construct the gun with as many materials he had left over from previous projects. After sorting out the blue prints, he then went to construct the gun from a huge sheet of 3/4″ MDF left over from the Laser Rifle project.
He then went onto make a central “spine” that all of the outer components would slide onto, forming the organic shape of the M8. After trimming, parts that needed to be symmetrical, they were clamped together and sanded down along their edges to make certain they were as exact as he could get them.
Next step was to glue and clamp these pieces together around thin strips of MDF that would serve as the center sections. This would eventually leave these pieces looking like a bunch of u-channel MDF chunks.
I think he’s done a wonderful job due to the fine resemblance of the weapon. It takes a great deal of craftsmanship to pull this off, but it looks like this guy can with success.
You got to admit, it’s pretty awesome for a replica
