Play For Japan: Nintendo DS Lite Onyx Black Autographed

Posted by TurtleGirl On March - 18 - 2011

It’s time to dig deep and donate to charity, before you hit the weekend and spend all of your hard earned gold coins away on pizza and popcorn, because charity begins at home.

As part of the Play For Japan campaign which is raising money for earthquake and tsunami relief in Japan, they are offering up on Ebay the opportunity to bid on an autographed Orcs & Elves-themed Onyx Black Nintendo DS Lite signed by id Software founder John Carmack. Carmack was the lead programmer of the id computer games Wolfenstein 3D, Doom, Quake, their sequels and the Commander Keen series of games.

The hardware has never been used and has only been gently handled since it was received in 2007. The DS has been beautifully decorated with an Orcs & Elves console skin and the signature appears to have been made with a silver permanent marker, yet it is advised that the buyer not handle the system, since it will degrade the quality of the signature. The system is for use in North America, therefore any accessories, such as AC adapter are designed for 110V power outlets.

100% of the proceeds of the final auction will be donated to the Save The Children to provide aid to Japan in the aftermath of the recent earthquake and tsunami.
