On the 9th & 10th of April, fans of comic books, movies, TV and video games will all converge in one place – Islington, London – for the first ever KAPOW! Comic Con.
With special guests from the world of Comic Books and television, including names such as Jonathan Ross, Frankie Boyle, Dave Gibbons, Frank Quitely and Leinil Yu, there is already plenty to be excited about. But for the gamer that is making the journey to KAPOW!, surely the most exciting area of this event to visit will be the IGN Arena.
Codemasters will be offering a first look at upcoming games DiRT3 and Operation Flashpoint: Red River. Nintendo will be showing off their “glasses-free 3D” handheld, as players will be able to try out the 3DS with some of the most popular launch titles.
Tetsuya Mizuguchi, creator of Rez and Lumines, will be presenting Ubisoft’s Child of Eden to UK fans for the very first time. Mizuguchi will be demonstrating the game on stage. There will also be a Q&A and signing session where fans are in with a chance of grabbing some collectible artwork to celebrate Child of Eden’s appearance at KAPOW!
The IGN Arcade will feature hands-on with Disney’s Cars 2 and other games from publishers including THQ, Warner Bros and Namco Bandai.
Optimum Releasing are bringing their eagerly-anticipated teenagers vs. aliens movie Attack the Block to KAPOW! with IGN’s Entertainment Editor, Chris Tilly hosting an on-stage panel discussion with Adam & Joe star and Director Joe Cornish, with cast members. Visitors to the IGN Arena can view exclusive footage from Attack the Block and other forthcoming Optimum movies in the Attack the Block lounge.
On Saturday, the IGN Arena hosts an attempt by a stellar list of comic talent led by Mark Millar, Dave Gibbons & John Romita Jr. to break two Guinness World Records for “Fastest Production of a Comic Book” and “Most Contributors to a Comic Book.” This superstar tag team will create a 20-page comic book starring Superior which will be printed on-site at the end of the day with the first copy auctioned for charity. Proceeds from sales of the special issue will go to Yorkhill Children’s Foundation.
Also featuring in the IGN Arena is the Blu-ray Lounge, where visitors will be able to enjoy the ultimate Blu-ray home cinema experience in 3D.
