Being a big fan of Firefly Studios’ castle builder, I can’t wait for Stronghold 3 to arrive. But whilst watching this latest video, featuring the more sedate economic side of the game, I couldn’t help but feel that the voices had come straight from Monty Python.
The Economic trailer shows the quieter side of the game, nurturing the land and dealing with problems that threaten the peace of your castle and village.
If you don’t fancy facing Stronghold’s arch nemesis The Wolf in the bloody Military Campaign, then perhaps you should stick to the Economic mode, which tells the story of Lady Catherine as she tries to rebuild a ruined abbey. You see, it already sounds nice, doesn’t it? It could be the plot of a romantic comedy… but with more peasants dying of the plague and crops being ruined by apple blight.
“We wanted to show that there are two sides to Stronghold 3,” said lead designer Simon Bradbury, Firefly Studios. “To create a mighty army, you also need a fully functioning village, which means growing crops, nurturing animals, holding church services and even giving your villagers a few pints of ale. The Economic Campaign really highlights the simulation aspect of the game, as players are tasked with restoring the abbey to its former glory and repairing lands that have been ravaged by The Wolf’s army.”
