It’s been a week of celebrating console birthdays this week, with Xbox and PlayStation 3 taking the spot light for much of the week.
But spare a thought for the little handheld that get’s left behind. You know the one, it used to slip into your back pocket and had a really tinny sound. It came in a variety of colours, and was the fifth generation in handhelds. Tomorrow mark’s the 13th Birthday of the Game Boy Colour. It made it’s debut on the 19th November, 1998 in North America, although Japan had seen it in October, 1998. It was slightly bigger and taller than the Game Boy Pocket, but was far more successful . The original 8-bit Game Boy Colour has filled endless hours of playing Zelda and won the hearts of many gamers who squinted to play games with no backlit light to talk of and just ran on two AA batteries.
Happy Birthday little guy!
