Sony’s new 3D display started selling at the weekend for $500. The special 24inch 3D display comes complete with one pair of 3D glasses for viewing images in stereoscopic 3D. The 3D display enables players to play the same game simultaneously, without the need for the split screen.
With this screen, using the special glasses, the screen shows one set of images to a person sitting on the left and another set of images to someone sitting on the right. It’s called SimuView, which is a technology that let’s both players see the images in full screen mode. The display has a thin-emitting diode, backlit, full HD and LCD screen. It uses fast sequential display technology that makes 3D viewing seem and feel more realistic. The screens refresh rate is 240 hertz, meaning it flashes 240 images on the screen in a single second. The 3D display comes complete with 3D glasses and a copy of MotorStorm Apocalypse 3D game on Blu-ray disc. It has three inputs, (two HDMI and one component) so gamers will have the ability to hook up their PlayStation 3, Cable TV and PC, all at the same time. The 3D glasses come with a rechargeable lithium ion battery, and an extra pair of the special glasses will set you back $70.
