Video game publisher THQ and Obsidian Entertainment have teamed up with Matt Stone and Trey Parker to develop a game based on the duo’s “South Park” animated television show.
“South Park: The Game” will be available for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 games systems and for Windows PC. The game hits stores in the second half of 2012.
Agoura Hills-based THQ is developing the game with South Park Digital Studios LLC, a joint venture between Stone and Parker and Viacom Media Networks and Obsidian Entertainment Inc.
The role-playing adventure game allows players to befriend characters from “South Park” and explore the quite mountain town.
“Our goal is simple: to put creative talent first,” said Danny Bilson, executive vice president, VP Core Games, in a prepared statement. “Matt and Trey are arguably two of the most important comedic talents of their generation. Bringing their vision of South Park to the interactive space is a dream-come-true.”
