It’s been a day of official announcements today from Nintendo. Nintendo have announced today that when they release the Wii U console later in the year, the console will come fitted with a support for NFC (Near Field Communication).
Nintendo’s President Satoru Iwata revealed that the company have added the NFC technology to allow the new console to interact with special cards and video game figures. The NFC will support the ability to perform micropayments directly from the Wii U console. The NFC hardware, which is included with the Wii U will be fully compatible with the FeliCa and MIFARE standards. Nintendo’s new Wii U console is expected to be released later in the year in North America, Europe, and Japan. Earlier on today, Nintendo’s President Satoru Iwata also revealed information about the Nintendo Network to the public.
