According to the website Forget the Box, Nintendo is planning to launch a digital e-reader service, where you can download books, magazines, newspapers and comics to the new and upcoming Wii U console.
According to the blog site, these publications would then stream to the Wii U controller’s touchscreen, so you would be able to read them anywhere within your home. The touch screen would be used to flip through pages of an e-book or a magazine, and would even have a searchable index. You can zoom in and out of the text and graphics. Nintendo have also thought about the possibility of making digital versions of their strategy guides, which were called ‘Players Guides’ available for free to gamers. There also maybe an opportunity of having electronic booklets for virtual console games that you could download. The Wii U would be capable to downloading these manuals and magazines, while it is turned off, while you sleep. Nintendo is interested in making every single issue of Nintendo Power (from 1988 to currently) available for download to be read on the Wii U’s touchscreen controller. While this could all be complete speculation, some of it makes interesting sense.
