Nintendo has announced the acquisition of video codec company Mobiclip. The French based company is a Research and Development center, which is specialized in the field of highly optimized software technologies.
Mobiclip technology will be used in upcoming games on the Nintendo 3DS and Wii U. Mobiclip has previously been used with technology on past handhelds such as the Game Boy Advance and Nintendo DS. The main goal of this acquistion will be to provide ‘high quality video with low battery consumption’. It is highly likely this technology has been deployed on a numbers of Nintendo 3DS’s such as Nintendo Video.
