While most people are happy to retire when old age creeps up and invest in a hobby such as knitting, it’s a very different story for centenarian Kathleen Connell, who turned 100 years old last week.
What keeps this woman’s mind active through all this time? The Nintendo DS. Kathleen spends most of her time playing games such as Scrabble, Art Academy, Family Fortunes and brain training games. Kathleen owns more than a dozen games and has proudly admitted that Brain Trainer has scored her mental age of 64 years old, 36 years younger than her real age. She spends her evening playing games on the handheld, until she retires to bed.
“It’s absolutely super, I can’t speak highly enough of it. I don’t know what I would do without it,” the grandmother of one said.
“I’ll play it in the evening, then I’ll have a break and a cup of tea, then I’ll go back to playing my Nintendo,” she added.
According to Kathleen’s daughter, her mother became a regular gamer four years ago when she was handed a Nintendo DS on her 96th birthday. She’s currently on her second console after playing the first until it was completely worn out.
