The new update for the PlayStation Vita will be released on the 8th February. The 1.6 update will be available to download and will add two major features.

These features include Map app, which is available from the Home Screen. The map enables you to see where you are on a map and the map can be viewed with satellite imagery turned on and off. You’ll be able to search for walking and driving directions and view information about your current location. The system’s photo app will also be updated giving you the ability to take videos. At the moment, the app is limited to static photos. Another small change will occur with the PlayStation Vita, where the Home button will now flash blue when you have the PlayStation Vita connected to a power source.

On a separate issue, Sony will release a MAC OS version of it’s Content Management Assistant for PlayStation program. The program is required for transferring data between your Vita and PC. The update will also reflect Sony’s previously announced naming change from ‘PlayStation Network Account‘ to ‘Sony Entertainment Network Account‘. This is just a name change and nothing more.
