The GAME flagship store held the official midnight launch event for PlayStationVita on Oxford Street last night, where a massive queue started forming outside the UK’s leading game retailer store.
GAME and GameStation were the first in the country to open it’s doors for the highly anticipated Sony portable handheld. It was also a chance to exclusively meet WipEout 2048 developers Karl Jones and Ami Ledger, who were signing copies of the game.
First to wait patiently in the queue was Zohaib Ali, aged 21 from Uxbridge, who was the very first person to purchase Sony’s PlayStation Vita at the official midnight launch. He had been queued for the handheld since Sunday.
The PlayStation Vita has launched in the UK today. It will be available at major retailers in the United States, Canada, Australia, Latin America and Europe. PlayStation have more than 100 games currently in development globally that span many different genres, including Sound Shapes, Resistance: Burning Skies, Uncharted Golden Abyss, Capcom’s Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed, EA Sports’ FIFA, and Activision’s Call of Duty.
With its vibrant 5-inch OLED screen, dual analog sticks, dual cameras, and front and rear touch panel, PS Vita will deliver rich, immersive games with stunning graphics, which simply can’t be found anywhere else. Now you’ll be able to play shooters and action titles on-the-go with controls that are familiar, and you won’t have to block out the gorgeous screen to interact with the games. You’ll be able to connect with your friends and fellow PS Vita owners. PS Vita will have your favorite social networking applications like Facebook, foursquare, Skype, and Twitter, so you can share and connect with friends.
