GameStop, the world’s biggest video game retailer may be interested in purchasing the GAME Group. In The Independent it’s reporting GameStop’s interest in all, or parts, of Game’s 291-stores operation in Spain and Portugal. It’s emerged just recently that the UK video game supplier has been withholding certain titles.
GAME has 610 UK stores and it’s shares closed at 4.6p yesterday. GAME has had many problems with credit insurers. It recently pulled the plug on Capcom’s Street Fighter X Tekken and Asura’s Wrath, which would not be available from GAME or Gamestation. GAME recently ran into troubled waters due to credit insurance problems with suppliers over the Christmas period. The UK video games retailer has failed to secure terms and agreements with EA, Nintendo and Capcom.
A Game spokeswoman said: “We’re in talks with Capcom to resolve this temporary situation and we apologise to our customers for this disappointing news.”
