Drop in Game Sales Lead to Falling Game Stocks

Analyst’s predictions for June have been a disappointing month for packaged games sales for video game stock on Wall Street. SEGA’s strange Washing machine game ‘MaiMai’ hits arcades

SEGA’s brand new rhythm game titled ‘MaiMai’ is now available to play in amusement arcades today in Japan. The bizarre and odd looking laundry machine shaped cabinet, although it could be mistaken for a tumble dryer,  features a camera that directly records your play and uploads to Nico Nico Douga. The Ouya Gaming console raises over $2 Million on Kickstarter

OUYA is a new game console for the TV and has managed to raise $2,188,680 on Kickstarter on it’s first day. This little console box costing $99 is powered by Android and is attracting a fair bit of wide scale attention. The Ouya is developed with an open design to allow you to play video games in the living room and taking advantage of everything the TV has to offer. The design sounds more like a smartphone than a gaming rig with a quad-core Tegra 3 and 8GB of storage running Android 4.0. The upscale, RF wireless gamepad’s standout is a built-in trackpad for playing mobile games alongside the familiar sticks and buttons. Read the rest of this entry »

Kid Icarus Uprising studio dissolved

Kid Icarus Uprising developer Project Sora has been dissolved and the studio closed on the 30th June. Project Sora was originally formed in 2009 by Masahiro Sakurai, with investment by Nintendo, Sakurai’s Sora studio, and other parties. The studio developed just Kid Icarus Uprising. Sakurai is serving as director of the 3DS and Wii U entries in the Smash Bros. series, which are being developed by Namco Bandai. Read the rest of this entry »
