Producer Shinji Hashimoto took the stage to announce the Final Fantasy 25th Anniversary Ultimate Box in Japan. Set for release on the 18th December exclusively through the Square Enix e-Shop, this collectors package will include all the Final Fantasy games and a box with an Amano illustration. The package will weigh a heavy five kilograms and the package includes PS1, PS2 and UMD releases.
Hashimoto’s announcement came after some high profile guest appearances:
- Square Enix CEO Yoichi Wada appeared first and remarked that the FF series is not done. It’s appearing on a variety of consoles. Also, Versus is still being made.
- Sony Computer Entertainment Japan president Kawano followed, and remarked that with the release of FF3, all the Final Fantasy games are now on PlayStation.
- Microsoft Xbox business chief Takashi Sensui followed. Wada explained that they released FFXI on the Xbox 360 because Sensui asked him why they won’t release FF on the system.
- Nintendo CEO Satoru Iwata delivered a video message in which he shared his thoughts on the series and provided an explanation for the series’ success.
