The rumours, the speculation, the leaks, the artist’s impressions – they all become irrelevant tonight as the Sony event will hopefully reveal the PlayStation 4. We’re staying up to watch – are you?
The Sony event that will likely put a stop to all of the questions about the PS4, or at least the important ones, will be streamed over the internet live from New York at 11pm GMT at www.ustream.tv/playstation amongst other places. That means it will be a bit of a late one, but GGUK will have the popcorn ready and will be watching eagerly. We may well disappear for a while to have a bite to eat, but come 11pm GMT, we will be watching.
But what can we expect from the event? Well, the sensible money is on the announcement of the PS4. Here at GGUK, we have been avoiding the rumours that have circulated around the internet, preferring to wait for the official word. Will we find out tonight that the controller doesn’t have a touch panel? Will there be “cloud gaming”? ( and will it work better than the ill-fated OnLive service?). Will Sony reveal a super-low price point because they love their customers so much? Will the console be made out of glass? Who knows, but we don’t have long to wait…
And what about the games? Ahh, sweet gaming goodness. Let’s hope that some good titles at least get hinted at tonight. Maybe a glimpse of Sackboy? Possibly Nathan Drake? Will we see some MotorStorm or Gran Turismo cars screaming across the screen? Again, we will have to wait until tonight to see.
Whatever happens, and whatever is actually revealed tonight, it will be part of gaming history. Whether you are a Sony fanboy, exclusively Xbox or a follower of Nintendo, you will want to be watching tonight. See you at 11pm!
