Developer Team17 have confirmed the next instalment of it’s iconic wormtastic artillery strategy game is arriving on iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch in Q3 2013.
Polygon reports that Worms 3 will feature 27 single-player missions across Beach, Spooky, Farmyard and Sewer themes. There is also a single-player mode called BodyCount, which increases in difficulty as the player progresses.
The game offers Forts and Deathmatch multiplayer modes. Multiplayer capabilities include asynchronous online multiplayer in ranked or friendly matches and pass-and-play with up to four players. Using pass-and-play in conjunction with Airplay, users can display the game on an Apple TV and play on one device with up to four players.
In addition, Worms 3 will introduce a bevy of new weapons including Canned Heat, Nora’s Virus and Black Hole Grenade. Old weapons such as the Old Lady, Homing Pigeon and Boggy B will be included in the game’s arsenal. The new Class system lets players join matches with a customized team from a choice of Heavy, Scientist, Scout and classic Soldier classes that have respective skills and abilities.
Players will have the option of turning on the new strategic playing cards feature. Card mode allow users to play strategic cards at the start and end of each turn. Players can build a custom deck of 41 cards and buy bronze, silver and gold cards with in-game rewards. Worms 3 will also feature a new menu system, quick access player HUB, leaderboards and achievements. The game offers both D-Pad and touch controls options.
