Transport Tycoon Pulls Up On Mobile Platforms

Posted by GG Goblin On October - 3 - 2013

The daddy of management sims is now available on iOS and Android devices. All aboard!

Transport Tycoon, Chris Sawyer’s legendary simulation management game, has arrived on mobile platforms! Launching worldwide today in the App Store and Google Play, the game that propelled a generation of tycoon games nearly twenty years ago has been recreated, resulting in one of the deepest, richest simulation games to ever be released on mobile devices. The game, developed by Origin8 Technologies under Sawyer’s direction, is available on iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, and Android phones and tablets for £4.99 GBP / $6.99 USD / €5.99 Euro beginning today. Transport Tycoon will also soon be available on Amazon.

In Transport Tycoon, players become entrepreneurs in control of a transport company, competing against rivals to make as much profit as possible by transporting passengers and various goods by road, rail, sea and air. To build an empire, players construct transportation routes consisting of stations near industries or towns, each often utilizing different methods of transportation such as trains, ships, airplanes, trucks and more.  A number of factors determine a player’s success including efficiency at moving goods from one station to another and therefore earning higher ratings, picking up resources or passengers and delivering them to where there is demand, and time, distance and quantity of goods delivered.

Heralded as the new standard in management simulation games upon its original release on PC, Transport Tycoon continues to be the standard in the genre almost two decades later and remains one of the best-selling PC games of all time. The new mobile game has been designed and directed by legendary game designer Chris Sawyer, the original creator of Transport Tycoon, Transport Tycoon Deluxe, and the Rollercoaster Tycoon series of games. Working closely with Sawyer, Origin8 Technologies have recreated and restored the original simulation code to produce a uniquely rich mobile game.
