STEAM stands for ‘Strike Team Eliminating the Alien Menace. It’s a team-based strategy game with action and shooting elements set in London in the 19th century.STEAM is a task force created by Abraham Lincoln who wants to defend the world from aliens. Players will be able to control a selection of fighting units of up to four members and defeat monsters, and you’re be able to swap between different characters.

The game’s campaign is divided into missions, which are then divided into several maps. Players will be able to unlock new weapons, characters and boilers, the items that let them harness steam as they play. Weapons are designed based on animal motifs that reflect the using character’s personality, and each character has a special unique ability that can used once per map. The adversaries, the aliens, are based on creates from the mythology of H.P. Lovecraft. According to designers, the game will never play the same way twice. There is no permadeath.

You’ll be able to collect medals in the game and they can be used to regenerate health and steam.According to art director Takako Sakai, the game’s cartoony visual design was influenced by Silver Age comics. The soundtrack is being composed by Taishi Senda, who worked on the Advance Wars series.

Some of the alien enemies, including a three-eyed beast named “Devastater,” are inspired by H.P. Lovecraft, developers said. Another enemy is called a “Prowler,” described as “very intelligent” and capable of working in groups to bring you down.
