Bungie Confirm Destiny Character Wipe

Posted by GG Goblin On August - 11 - 2014

Farewell brave Titan. Adios pale-skinned Warlock. Au revoir long-haired Ranger. Bungie have confirmed in their latest blog post that the characters created during the Destiny Beta will be wiped, along with the Vault. It’s okay, you can cry now…

Many gamers were afraid this would happen. Some gamers wanted it. Other gamers refused to invest in the Destiny Beta just in case of this. Now it is official, Bungie are going to delete all of the characters created during the Beta and all of those loving hours spent running around Old Russia, the Moon and the last safe city on Earth with our finely created heroes will be lost, forever. It is a bit sad, but at least we don’t have too long to wait until we can all start again.

Tyson Green of Bungie had this to say in the blog:

Since the Beta, we’ve continued to tune and adjust the game. The way you earn experience has been adjusted up and down a bunch of times. Items have been added and removed. New features toggled. Although there’s no single monumental change, the sum of the tweaks leaves characters from the Beta Build in strange shape that would be confusing at best, broken at worst.

I suppose that’s fair enough then. Read the full blog post here to find out more.
