To celebrate the launch of PlayStation 5 tomorrow, PlayStation UK has partnered with Transport for London  to take over Oxford Circus Station in the heart of London’s West End for 48 hours.

As part of the TfL partnership the iconic Tube roundels have been reimagined to feature the four iconic PlayStation shapes.

As well as transforming the roundels, the station’s tunnels, platforms, and entrance/exits have also been transformed. These include:

– Roundels changed above ground at each of the station’s four entrance/exits on the Oxford Circus/Regent Street junction
– Roundels changed on the walls of the Bakerloo, Victoria, and Central line platforms

In addition, four other Underground stations across London have been taken over by some of the next generation’s most loved games, featuring scenery and characters from fan favourite franchises. These Punderground Stations include;
– Mile End station pays homage to Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales by becoming Miles End
– Lancaster Gate becomes Ratchet and Clankaster Gate
– Seven Sisters has been renamed Gran Turismo 7 Sisters
– and West Ham station has become Horizon Forbidden West Ham

Warwick Light, Vice President at PlayStation UK said, “The launch of the PlayStation 5 marks another defining moment in the history of the brand. We wanted to make the UK launch an unmissable event and celebrate it in a playful way with our fans by bringing together a British icon, the London Underground sign, with the iconic PlayStation shapes. Similarly, we’re thrilled to be able to bring some of our most loved franchises to stations across London and truly celebrate the latest additions to these fan favourites.”

Julie Dixon, Head of Customer Information, Design & Partnerships at Transport for London (TfL) said: “We’re delighted to have been able to work with PlayStation to support the launch of the new PlayStation 5 console. This fantastic partnership is a great example of how brands can work with us to use our stations and globally recognised roundels in a fun and creative way. Activities like this help us invest in the transport network for the benefit of all of our customers.”

The Oxford Circus takeover is live on 18 and 19 November. The takeovers at Mile End, Lancaster Gate, Seven Sisters and West Ham will be live from 18 November until 16 December. During the national lockdown, those wishing to see these takeovers should only do so as part of a journey for work, education or other essential services. Alternatively, they can experience the takeover virtually and can find a series of content available on the @PlayStationUK and @TfL channels.
